Dancing is a unique hobby to have because everyone is different when it comes to dancing. Everybody has something new to bring to the table. It can mean so many different things to different people. It can simply bring somebody joy or a way to celebrate. It could be their career choice and something they work hard to accomplish. Dance can also be a way to escape reality and empty someone’s mind. It can be like a meditation only with movement.

To the everyday eye dancing can be fun or beautiful to watch but every dance tells a story. Whether it is a deep internal story that represents a certain emotion or tragedy or the story of the dancer themselves. As you watch a dance, the dancers entire story is being told right before your eyes. When you are a dancer, dance is a piece of you. It has become the way you conquer life and the barriers it throws at you.

The only way to explain how dancing feels is a dream. When you are dancing for yourself it is like you are dreaming. It is way to let out your emotions without giving them away. Your mind is put at peace because you are too busy listening to the music and letting it move you.

Music and dance have a powerful connection. It is this connection that causes you to catch yourself tapping your foot when you hear music. Music lures you to dance or move because movement is dancing. Dancing is something you do when you are happy and are celebrating with friends. Dancing for some people is something you also do when you are sad or angry. It is a release button that causes our emotions to tell our story through dance before it eats us alive.

It doesn’t matter if you are good at dancing or not. Dancing is something you do for you and isn’t something to be embarrassed about. I urge for you to try it and use it for meditation. Put on your favorite song and dance around your room. The best feeling is when you close your eyes and let the music move you. The plus side, if you close your eyes you won’t see how idiotic you may look to somebody else, but dancing is the time of not caring what other people think.

“I’m not giving up; I’m just giving in” is a quote from the song Never Let Me Go by Florence & The Machine.

It relates to a lot of things in life but I feel like it relates to dancing on a deep level because dancing is giving into the music.

Dancing is letting go and giving in. It is much more than counts and moves, or recitals and contests. Although those all can be good things, dancing is more than that. It is the beautiful and careless movements of a human being. Dancing is a way to let go of life so you can live it to the fullest.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
