Rumor has it that there is finally something to help prevent migraines that aren't taking a pill or witchcraft. As a follow-up to my last article, “Why Migraines Are Not Just Another Headache,” and with the recent online theories about this possible cure, I thought I would give the public and anyone who is interested my experience.

If you have ever had a migraine or suffer from chronic migraines, you know you will do almost anything to get rid of it and prevent it from happening again. Well if you’re into piercings, you might just be in luck, and it’s called the daith piercing.

Theory says that there is a pressure point in your ear and when acupuncture's are performed due to a migraine, it would be done at this pressure point to relieve the horrible headache. Well instead of constantly having to do acupuncture's, why not just pierce it?

I am in love with ear piercings, and before I had my daith done, I had eight piercings total all in my ears. So when I heard about this theory, I thought to myself, why not!? If it doesn’t work, I still have a cool piercing in my ear, right?

So I went to a professional piercer and asked if the piercing did help and they told me they can not say it prevents or helps migraines, because then that requires the shop to have a medical license, plus there is no medical research to actually prove the theory. Well, I still wanted to give it a shot, and so did my mom.

For those of you who are interested and can’t handle pain, this piercing is not for you. The needle is three inches long, curved, and is thick. This needle is going through a pressure point and is the meatiest part of your ear as well. My mother gave an all natural birth to me and she said this piercing was almost as painful as that. Just remember to breathe and the pain is only for a few days.

After getting my piercing done, and taking four ibuprofen because the entire side of my face was sore, now it was time to see if it helped my migraines. The healing process is very long and tedious but guess what, it’s worth it.

I haven’t had a migraine since I had my piercing done, and I usually get three migraines within a month. My mother's whose migraine triggers were beer and wine can now drink both with no migraines. It’s been three months since I got it done, and my ear no longer hurts, and neither does my head!

I would 100 percent recommend doing this because it has helped my mom and me. A few days of pain in your ear are totally worth fewer migraines at night. Plus who doesn’t like a little sparkle in their ear?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
