Everyone loves dogs. However, that love can be incredibly painful when it is accompanied by sneezing and hives. Yep, allergies. The most heartbreaking allergy is to an entire species that you love. So for those of you like me, who are allergic to dogs, this is a list of cute hypoallergenic dogs! Just because your body hates them, doesn't mean you can't own and love them.
1. Yorkshire Terrier
The Yorkshire Terrier is a small dog developed in the 19th century in Yorkshire, England, awarding it the name of Yorkshire Terrier. They only grow to be about 7 pounds, landing them in the Toy Terrier category. Although these Terriers have the ability to grow quite long coats, they shed vary rarely, and in very small amounts when compared to non-hypoallergenic breeds. Plus they're absolutely adorable and make great companion dogs!
2. Shih Tzu
Following along with another small dog, the Shih Tzu. Originating from Tibet, they tend to be very outgoing, playful, and friendly. They only grow to be about nine inches tall, and will weigh around 11 pounds when fully grown. When a dog is so small and loyal, how can it not be completely adorable?
3. Samoyed
For those of us looking for a larger, more cuddle friendly pal, there is the Samoyed. These hairy babies tend to have very sociable personalities, and are very people friendly, meaning it's a large dog with the mindset of a lap dog! They grow to be about 35-55 pounds and sport light colored coats. Plus, they shed very little for eing such a fluffy dog. The best of both worlds right here!
4. Italian Greyhound
Back with another small dog, the Italian Greyhaound! These little cuties grow to be a little more than a foot tall, and weigh around 10-18 pounds when they're fully grown. They tend to be very intelligent dogs, but are still affectionate and make good companions. Plus they're even cuter in sweaters!
5. Border Terrier
The Border Terrier was originally bred as a hunting dog, and come in a varitey of coat colors. They tend to grow to be around a foot tall, and weigh around 13-14 pounds in adulthood. The Border Terrier is a very alert and obidient breed, so they are good protectors and are good at learning tricks!
6. Affenpinscher
This tiny beauty is an Affenpinscher (also sometimes called the Monkey Terrier), They're lucky if they grow to be a foot tall, and weigh more than 12 pounds. They're small dogs, but they have a lot of energy and love playing!
7. Puli
The Puli is probably the most easily recognizable breed in this list, solely because of its dreadlock-like coat. The tight curls of the coat make the breed almost waterproof! These pups get a little bigger than most on this list, reaching about 15-16 inches tall and weighing about 30 pounds. They tend to be very loyal and faithful companions, what's not to love?
8. Lowchen
This hypoallergenic cutie is a Lowchen. They are another toy gog, only growing about a foot tall and weighing 10-15 pounds in adulthood. This is an amazing addition to a family, seeing as the breed tends to be very friendly, happy, and playful!
9. Dandie
Also known as the Dandie Dismont Terrier, the Dandie is a small breed known for it's 'top knot'- like head of fur. The breed has a long body with short legs. They will be very small dogs, not quite reaching a foot in height, and only around 20 pounds in adulthood. These cuties make good companionss because they tend to be inderpendent dogs, but also very affectionate.
10. Poodle
The Poodle is a classic breed, I'm sure all of us are familiar with them. However, they shed very little making them allergy friendly! Their size depends on what type of Poodle it is. The smallest being around 10 inches tall, the largest around two feet tall. These pups come in a ton of coat colors, although white is the most common. They are very trainable and faithful pets, great for competition or just for fun!
