I Cut All The Negativity Out Of My Life, And Here's What I've Learned

I've lived too many years of my life being negative, and wasting all my energy on the things that drained me of my happiness. I've allowed people into my life that simply did not make me happy, made decisions I wasn't satisfied with, and settled for things that were way short of fulfilling. Lately, I've decided to cut the negativity out of my life in any way I possibly can, and focus on what truly makes me happy. This is what I've learned thus far.

1. I don't need someone in my life to make me complete, and I can give myself everything and more that I can get from a relationship.

2. When people want you in their life, they will make it known. Life is too short to be putting effort into something that is going to come to a dead end.

3. There is beauty in everything.

4. It's okay to be selfish, and to make yourself feel special and important.

5. It's so much easier to love and be kind than it is to hate.

6. Not everyone is going to like you, and that's okay because the only opinion that matters is your own.

7. Failing at something does not label you as a failure.

8. Everyone moves at their own pace in life, whether it's healing, learning, moving on. There is no time limit, and it's not a race.

9. Spending time alone is a beautiful thing, and it allows your mind to think freely and your body to wind down at its own pace.

10. You do not owe anyone an explanation for anything. Not your friends, not your parents, no one. Your business is your own for a reason.

11. There is no need to feel sad about things that once made you happy. These things give you good memories to look back on, and to have for the rest of your life.

12. You are not obligated to give advice, or make people feel better about their problems. If you had to deal with things on your own, others can too.

13. You shouldn't have to apologize for speaking your mind, or being honest.

14. Mother really does know best.

15. It's okay to change.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
