For as long as I could remember, I've always had long hair. It may have been medium length at some points in my life but it was still considered fairly long. Personally, I think long hair is gorgeous, whether you have pin-straight hair, beachy waves or bouncy curls, long hair is beautiful! However, I felt as if my hair was getting a mind of its own. If I didn't brush it every hour or so, my hair would revolt and the knots would begin to pile up. I've tried everything to keep the knots at bay: coconut oil hair masks, olive oil hair masks, biotin pills, etc. I've tried everything I knew about how to keep my hair long, healthy and smooth. But none of it worked against the cold fall air and windy days. I had split ends the size of the Grand Canyon. The overall damage to the ends of my hair made me feel like I hadn't touched my hair in weeks, let alone wash it.
So I made the decision to cut my hair. I didn't expect to cut off so much, however. Whenever I go to the hair salon, I normally get a trim to get the dead ends off, and then it looks healthy again. But this time was different. My hair was literally annoying me at least twenty times a day. It would even get stuck in my car door! I needed a change.
I went to the salon and chopped off 8 inches of my hair. This is the shortest it has ever been and I LOVE IT. I was so nervous and so afraid of the change, but once she made the first cut I felt so relieved. I never would have thought that a haircut could relieve so much stress! Also, I'm so happy that my hair was long enough for donating!
Here is the process of the big change: (It might not be as drastic as one would think but it's a big change for me!)
The Long Hair:
Can you tell how nervous I was?!
The Hair Cut:
OMG.
The Result:
I have never felt more free and light!
Moral of the story: Don't be afraid of changing up your look! You may end up loving the new you!
