People with curly hair know that it is a totally different type of hair when compared to straight or even wavy hair. Days tend to go back and forth. One day you can love your hair and so in love with that fact that you have this hair naturally.

While other times you think you were cursed with this hair and are slightly tempted to shave it all off.

I have experience with those, plus every other emotional feeling you can get with curly hair. I have had a love/hate relationship with my curls since I can remember. Although over time I have come to overall love them, compared to my middle and early high school days where I would straighten my hair every day. Being a girl with curly hair makes getting hair cuts very difficult, as many people cut it wrong, making the curls look dead or just weird. I have tried more salons and stylists than I can count, trying to find one to tame the madness on my head.

That being said, I became interested when I heard about the Deva Curl Cut. It's like a normal haircut, except backward. You go in with clean, dry, and natural hair and then they cut each individual curl while dry. They do this so they know how tight the hair curls and how it shapes the head, as they can't see that when the hair is wet and straight. After doing some research, I decided to give one of these haircuts a try.

The experience was different, as we cut my hair first and then washed and styled. My stylist then fixed anything she missed after we re-dried the hair. Throughout the whole cut my stylist taught me how Deva Curll products worked and how to use them best for my hair type. After my cut my curls were noticeably smoother, less frizzy, and overall more springy. I thought it must have been the magic of the hair salon, so I thought I'd wait to see how it looked when I washed and styled myself. Later on the week when I did washed using their recommended Deva Curl products my hair was like new. Same type of hair I had after my cut. My curls look much livelier and the frizz level is down tremendously. Although my hair is a bit shorter then I anticipated I would call the overall experience a total success and will be going back for my next hair cut and using the Deva curl products they recommended.

So to all my curly haired friends out there, give Deva Curl a try and see if it works for you. Hopefully your experience is as positive as mine!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
