I have been blessed (or cursed?) with curly hair and a lot of it. It has taken me years to figure out the best way to tame my mane. Between several products and a combination of twisting and scrunching, I have been able to keep it under control (mostly). It's a lot to take care of, and many days I just want to pull it all out because it won't cooperate! If you're like me, you'll understand the the rollercoaster that is having curls fo' dayz. Here are some of the ups and downs to curly hair.

1. The humidity turns it into a puffy ball of frizz.

It can be unmanageable and uncooperative, especially in the summer. You don't have to tell me, I KNOW it's a frizzy mess.

2. You don't bother with blow dryers to achieve your lovely curls.

Air drying>Blow drying...Saves time and effort which is a major plus!

3. You spend SO much money on conditioner because you use a LOT of it.

Seriously, conditioner is probably the item I spend most money on. The recommended "dime-sized amount" just doesn't cut it for my hair!

4. Messy buns are easy, look nice, and stay all day.

The curls give it texture and make sure it doesn't slide out of the hair elastic.

5. But once you put your hair up, you can't have it down again.

Once you put it up, you are stuck with it. There's no going back from an up-do with curly hair.

6. It's really hard to find a hair dresser that understands your hair...

Some people just don't understand how to handle the craziness that is my hair. Heck, I don't even completely understand sometimes.

7. But you can rock the layered look!

Curly layers look fab, and they help take some of the weight off of your head. Curls are heavy!

8. You don't have to brush your hair. In fact, you can't brush it. Ever.

Giphy

Don't put that hairbrush anywhere near my head. The fastest way to destroy your beautiful curls is by brushing it. Instead, softly comb it when it's wet to get the tangles out and then LEAVE IT ALONE!

9. It always looks different - it never curls the same as it did before.

Some days are good hair days, some days are not so good hair days.

10. It looks gorgeous without needing to use heat!

At the end of the day, I don't have to spend a ton of time with a wand or curling iron to get my curls. While they may be unruly at times, I wouldn't trade them for the world!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
