Being on a cruise, in the middle of the ocean blue, there is truly nothing better. I wrote my college essay on cruises; that’s just how great they are. That feeling of walking around the ship and looking around from all different sides and seeing absolutely nothing but the vast, vast ocean is an indescribable feeling. It is crazy knowing there is so much happening on this giant vessel floating throughout the ocean, but it is even crazier to think of the entire world that lies beneath the surface.
Looking on one side of the ship and seeing daytime, then looking on the other side and seeing nighttime is a remarkable sight. It is not too often where you can see day and night from the same spot at the same time. The sunrises and sunsets seen on each cruise are magnificent, as are the millions of stars that light up the sky each night.
Being rocked to sleep each night by the gentle waves of the ocean always assures a good night's rest, unless of course there's a storm coming. Even then, the fun only begins when the ship starts rocking. Yes, I know people get seasick. I have been there, done that, and yeah it totally sucked. But ever since that one time, I have never been seasick again, and personally, it is a tad more fun when the ship is rocking a bit more.
Waking up every other day somewhere different is quite simply amazing. It is just the greatest feeling having your belongings and home away from home travelling with you while exploring the various islands and cities for the day, and honestly one day is usually the perfect amount of time. If one of the places isn’t for you, heading back to the ship early and soaking up some sun or eating mountains of food is just as good.
The food, let me tell you, I could write on and on about the food. The best meals I have ever experienced have been on cruises. Eating at a 5-star restaurant for 7+ days is everyone’s ideal experience, and that is exactly what it is like eating on a cruise ship. Going on a cruise means opening yourself up to new foods or drinks because really, regardless of what it is you are trying will probably be amazing.
Meeting different people from all over the world is also what makes cruises special experiences. I have met some of my best friends on cruises, and we have remained close for ten years. Not only are the passengers amazing people, but the crew, too. Having crew members from all over the world with various accents and cultures adds to the fun. Incorporating the cultures of the crew members into shows or performances has opened my eyes to the many cultures of the world.
If there were ever an opportunity to live on a ship for the rest of my life, I would jump on that offer in a split second. I could just stare for hours and hours at the ocean surrounding me without feeling the slightest bit bored. Going on a cruise truly means you are being cut off from realty, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Nothing is better than cruising.
