Lululemon: the staple of all yoga brands. Targeting vulnerable buyers, Lululemon is quite successful at capturing a wide target market who are consistently vowed towards showing off the brands latest creations. Like many, I've been swarmed into the Lululemon craze for the past couple of years for both athletic and lifestyle purposes, and I can't find myself losing interest anytime soon.
However, I would have never thought one of the most significant pieces of advice I've ever received would not come from a speech, a movie, or a book but simply a 10-word quote found on a Lululemon shopping bag.
A majority of the time I usually shy away from staring at the bag after an in-store purchase since it declares the diminishing of my bank account as well as the addition of another item in my closet of clothes I probably did not actually need. Luckily, one day I surrendered and read one of the quotes conveniently sprawled across the red bag in bolded white lettering and came across:
"Creativity is maximized when you are living in the moment."
I was left dumbfounded with the conclusion of a quote presenting an authentically new perspective beyond the means of a shopping trip.
As I may either have a similar or contrasting approach to the creation of this one of many Lululemon manifestos, the quote assured myself how powerful and valuable creativity truly is. Particularly, creativity is a life skill dedicated to endorsing one’s life and keeping individuals interesting, lively, and out of the ordinary. Extrovert or introvert, creativity is open to any type of person no matter the education level, age, hobby, or interest.
We may all know this to be true, but this quote taught me when to be elusive and when to be creative; the best way to overcome this is by living in the moment. Simply worded, taking experiences as they come without overplanning naturally allows the best forms of personal creativity to come out.
At the end of the day, I know I have great reverence in regards to Lululemon and their random quotes all over their shopping bags. The wisdom designed an important lesson to all when your brain is stuck: just don’t think about it and your best knowledge will surface when you least expect it.
