Due to her legal battle with producer, Dr. Luke of Sony Records, musical artist, Ke$ha, is a popular news topic in 2016. Though many support her side legally, bystanders often make comments like, “I don't support her cause but I don’t like her music” or “she’s still just a stupid party girl.” In reality, there’s more to Ke$ha than meets the eye. Here are five facts you probably didn't know about this pop star's musical inclination, intelligence and activism.
1. She Writes Others Artists' Songs
To begin, unlike many top 40 artists, Ke$ha actually writes her own songs! Better yet, she also writes songs for other artists including, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Alice Cooper, Big Time Rush, Brittany Spears and more! Ke$ha's songwriting skills actually run in the family. Her mother writes songs with Ke$ha and has written for many other artists, including Dolly Parton!
2. Plays Instruments
When most people think of Ke$ha, they think of auto-tune and synthesizers. The truth is, while constructing songs, Ke$ha actually writes them on piano and guitar first. Ke$ha even plays guitar live in some of her shows!
3. Is the International Ambassador of the Humane Society
As if Ke$ha doesn't have enough on her plate between making music and dealing with her court hearing, Ke$ha is also the International Ambassador of the Humane Society. As the Ambassador, Ke$ha travels the world setting up events and fighting for animal rights.
4. Is Smarter Than You Would Think
According to several online databases, Ke$ha has an IQ of 140 which is near genius status. She also scored a 1500 on her SATs. That may not seem high now, but when she was in high school the maximum score was a 1600. Ke$ha originally planned to go to Barnard, a private college in New York, to study psychology, but decided being a musician was a better option! Can you blame her?
5. Changes her Songs for the Public Eye
So, if Ke$ha is so smart and selfless why does she come off as just a party girl? Well, it's in her contract of course! Ke$ha has performed original songs on multiple occasions during which she stresses no one's ever heard them because they were too "rock n' roll" for her recording contract. Ke$ha also comments on being forced to dress a certain way and include Illuminati related symbols and lyrics in her songs though she has no affiliation with the group.
Hopefully, if she wins her battle with Sony, she will be able to use her musical talents and smarts to their full potential and show fans her true colors!
