So I never read Odyssey's viral girl about the girl who gets to wear the wedding dress because I could care less about the subject. Congratulations, you got the guy, and while you might have some serious insecurities to work out, if you want to celebrate that, go ahead.
One thing I did find... "interesting" is the fact that it stirred up so much controversy. People all over social media were getting on their high-horses and hating this girl over her article.
To all those people, congratulations, you helped make the author somewhat famous and gave her article more than 150,000 views as of writing this article.
She played all of you with one of the oldest pieces of wisdom in the book: "controversy creates cash."
While she probably hasn't made any money on it, she has gained a small amount of fame, or infamy, and a large number of views.
It's similar to the issue I had with Logan Paul a few months back.
All of these social media warriors went to complain about someone's opinion, but all they really did was give them more views. Logan Paul has continued to do controversial stuff and is still making money, despite YouTube pulling his ad revenue, because it literally wasn't enough money to phase him.
If I were the author of the Odyssey article, I'd write a bunch more articles on the subject because it clearly generates views. And with every article, the social media warriors will piss and moan about it while she becomes one of the most successful Odyssey content creators.
Guys like the Paul brothers, and you could honestly include O.J. and Trump into this category, will continue to put out controversial stuff because it keeps them in the news and makes them more successful. The Odyssey author is just a small-scale version of what people have been doing for years.
"Controversy creates cash" is a concept that has existed for years, but the digital age has increased it to an insane degree. A controversial opinion can go viral in a matter of minutes thanks to a handful of people getting upset about it and spreading it like wildfire.
If you don't like it, then don't support the machine, but let's be honest, you will. People always will. If they didn't, half of the U.S. population would be in Canada, the Paul brothers would be out of business, and the NFL would have shut down, but none of this has happened.
People will continue to complain, but the world keeps turning and people keeping find success. By all means, complain about controversial opinions and the people who have them because it keeps giving those people attention.
"Controversy creates cash," so keep calling people's work controversial because it helps them be successful.
