Don't Let Me Go: Part 2

I couldn't see anything. Everything was darkness. I think I was asleep for a while because there are some things that I just can't remember. I have no idea where I am or where I am going. I feel like I am being moved along something. I try to feel anything with my hands behind me, I just feel a cold surface. Who was that person who found me and why did he sound so familiar?

I feel whatever I was moving on come to a stop. There was no movement around me so I must have been by myself somewhere. Then I hear these doors open that were near me and someone drags my feet towards them. They picked me up and walked with me, cradled like a baby and sat me in a chair.

"Alright, turn on the lights," said the familiar voice. I could not see who it was. I guess I was about to find out. When the lights came on my eyes had to close because it burned so much. After a few seconds, I was able to open my eyes. I couldn't believe who was in front of me. It was Justin. Looking at me in a way I never thought I would see. He had his arms crossed and was looking at me with such hatred. I didn't know how to feel. I was so happy to see him yet so confused about what all this meant.

"Justin? What is this? Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked. He continued to look at me and not answer. I started to look around the room and realize that there were other men. Men who looked like guards. They were everywhere. I looked up and there were more floors to look down in the room I was in. There were about 30 guards watching me and Justin. What is going on? What is happening. I had never felt this more lost in a situation than I do now. "Justin, please talk to me. What is all this?" I asked. But, he then turned away from me and left the room. He is so different than what I had always known. All these thoughts ran through my mind, which lead me to think of the worst situation. Justin and I were never really in love. It was all just to see if true love still existed to some people. I was a test. This all wasn't real. What does this mean now and what would happen to me? I looked around at the guards in a panic. The ones around me gave each other a nod. I felt as though that meant something was going to happen to me. I felt someone's hands on my shoulders and then, once again, everything went black.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
