My sister recently graduated college and, since we are only a couple years apart, it made me realize how fast that day is coming for me, and just how fast we are all growing up. As the younger one, I have learned so much from her and have so much more still to learn. But it's easy to get caught up in the stresses of life - especially when it's laid out in front of you, telling you to chose a job, a place, a path - so here's my best shot at "advice" for what is to come.

First, know how proud the people who love you are of you.
Being surrounded by other students for most of your time, it's easy to forget how much of an accomplishment it is to get a degree. Since everyone is there for the same purpose, it seems like it's just the norm, but it takes hard work and perseverance. So when we say we're proud, we're not just saying it so you feel accomplished. We're saying it to show you we recognize how big of an accomplishment it actually is.

Second, realize it's okay to still be figuring yourself out.
Looking around, sometimes it seems like everyone else has their life together and you're the only one still trying to figure things out. But most often, those people are looking at you and thinking the same thing. People present themselves to seem perfect, but most are also taking it one step at a time and taking opportunities as they come. Don't freak out because you don't have the perfect job lined up, or don't feel "ready for the real world" yet. You're more ready than you think, and you will definitely not have to do it alone - which leads me to:

Third, you'll always have people to rely on.
Family, friends - so many people who love you and are ready to help whenever you need. Just because you're a big girl (or boy) now, with a fancy degree, doesn't mean you have to face your troubles alone. People are there just as before, from deciding what clothes to wear to helping with hard decisions and tough times, to comfort you when worries arise, and remind you things like these.

I know you've heard it before, but I'll say it again - life isn't about how successful you become or how much money you make. There's a journey, a bigger purpose, and people you will touch along the way.

So, lastly, remember who is walking with you along the way;

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

Trust His plan and He will take care of you. And when you need a reminder, remember point three.

So congratulations graduate! We are so proud, and can't wait to see what your future has in store!
