"God does not have to work within the confines of our categories."
Confine God? What even? That was stated in one of my devotions I use. I read that and began to think about what that statement meant to me. I began to wonder if I confine God in my life. The answer was yes. I don't give him enough credit to how he works. We, myself included, often confine God to talk, or work with us in only one way.
There was an instance where I was in a relationship with a guy and we had broken up but we started talking to each other again. I thought I loved this boy and he was the one I was suppose to be with for the rest of my life. I prayed and asked God to show me if I was meant to stay with this boy or if I needed to get over him and move on with my life. There was stuff that went on and I kept over looking it. Then one day we were talking and said that he needed to see if this other girl was okay with us talking. I was like why should it matter if she cares if we are talking? He then told me that they were talking about dating. That's when I knew God had been giving my answer and I wasn't getting it. He had to do this for me to get the hint that he wasn't for me.
In that particular situation God used this boy to relay that message to me, but he is able to use songs, the word, sermons, prayers, dreams, other people, etc.We may expect him to have something stick out in the Bible to us, while others like to have their answers through songs. He works in so many ways, we couldn't count them all. He is a God of many ways, so we shouldn't expect him to just use one to interact with us. Whatever he uses to get the message to us, we should be thankful that he cares about us enough that he is communicating with us. He only does what is best for us so why do we question it? As long as it's from God, it's good, and it's for me.
