My Tips for Your Best Concert Experience

Concert Survival Guide

Well folks, it's that time of year. All of our favorite artists are releasing their new projects, which can only mean one thing-- tour time. Concerts can be intimidating or stressful, especially if it's your first one. Here are my tips and tricks I've gathered through my experience to help you survive the live music scene this concert season!!

1. Dress To Impress (Yourself)

While it can seem detrimental to be caught in an outfit that isn't the most trendy look in the venue, focus on comfort. Yes, I know you loves those heels, but you're spending the whole night on your feet. Just wear what makes you feel confident, and also comfortable!

2. Bring A Buddy

There's nothing wrong with ridin' solo for a show, but bringing a friend along makes it all the better. If they aren't that familiar with the artist you're seeing, you can introduce them to new music that you love. If they are familiar, you can share the experience of seeing your favorite band together (and screaming.. a lot of screaming)!

3. Make Friends

Yes, I know I just told you to bring your own, but a concert is the perfect place to meet new pals. You already know that you share common interests, you're there for the same reason! Make sure you go out of your comfort zone and talk to someone new, who knows, they may be your new best friend!

4. Plan Your Day Ahead

Nothing is worse than being in the back of the dreaded entry line, especially if it's general admission. You've been waiting months for this show, don't let yourself end up in the back! Make sure you and your pals make it to the venue with plenty of time to spare. If the line is still non-existent, you have time to grab food before! There's no such thing as "too early" on concert day, trust me.

5. Park Smart

Think long term when choosing the lot you park in. I know it may seem like too much effort to walk farther to the venue, but you'll be glad you walked that extra half-mile when you don't have to navigate the grid lock at the venue when everyone leaves!

6. Recharge On-The-Go

When your phone dies, it feels like your soul dies with it. Let's face it, it's 2016, our lives are in these things, don't let yourself end up phoneless halfway through a show! Bring a portable charger to keep it from happening to you. If you end up loosing your concert dates in the crowd, you'll need it to reconnect!

7. Bring The Essentials

Going along with a portable charger, there's a few other must-haves you might end up needing throughout the night. My bag usually contains cash (it's always best to bring cash, even if you normally use your card), pain killers, gum, hair ties, etc.

8. Hydrate

"Yes, mom, I'm drinking plenty of water." Except this time, it's really important that you do. I've seen my fair share of people pass out at concerts, and I've come pretty close to it myself. It's vital that you keep yourself hydrated throughout the night, or IV's will have to do it for you.

9. Don't Watch Through Your Screen

Trust me, if anyone knows the pressure to capture the moment it's me. It took me a few years to finally realize that no matter how many amazing photos or videos you capture, it will never beat the real deal. You can't relive a moment you never actually experienced. My main tip is to capture only short clips and a pic here and there, just don't go overboard!

10. Enjoy The Experience!

Whether you follow these tips or not, the most important part of a live show is to have fun. Be crazy, spontaneous, and soak up the moment! Remember that you can never experience that exact show again, and it may be your last chance to see this artist live. So enjoy every second, and have the best night of your life!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
