Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. For those of you that are single, it might come as a relief to you that you don’t have to worry about planning a perfect date or getting the perfect gift for your significant other. For those that are in a relationship, the pressure is on and time is ticking.

If you’re struggling to find a perfect gift, I have a suggestion for you. Write a poem. But not just any poem. This poem should be all about your SO (significant other). You could even go one step further and take these compliments straight from the Word of God! I’m here to help by giving you some of the best compliments for you to use at your leisure.

1. Your hair is like a flock of goats.

Song of Solomon 4:1

There’s truly nothing like being compared to a goat. And not just one goat, a whole flock of them! But if you give this compliment, maybe make sure to clarify that your significant other doesn’t smell like a whole flock of goats.

2. Your neck is like the tower of David.

Song of Solomon 4:4

This is one of those compliments that may end up sounding like an insult, so have discretion while using it. Maybe your significant other wants their neck to appear strong and tower-like. If this is the case, I think this is a great compliment for that.

3. You are altogether beautiful.

Song of Solomon 4:7

This one is actually really great, so definitely use it. The rest of verse seven goes on to say “there is no flaw in you.” And who doesn’t want to be told that they’re flawless?

4. Milk and honey are under your tongue.

Song of Solomon 4:11

WARNING: THIS SHOULD ONLY BE USED BY MARRIED PEOPLE. We can’t get too explicit on Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget to leave room for Jesus, am I right?

5. Your arms are rods of gold set with topaz.

Song of Solomon 5:14

Ladies, this is a great compliment to give to the man in your life. The rest of the verse basically says that he’s a chiseled and sculpted piece of artwork. If you really want to butter him up, I say go with this one.

6. Your mouth is sweetness itself.

Song of Solomon 5:16

This is a great compliment for that sweet talker in your life. If you like when your significant other compliments you, compliment them back!

7. Your eyes are the pools of Heshbon.

Song of Solomon 7:4

This is a great one for all of those people with “eyes you can swim in.” It never hurts to give a compliment about looks. Just be sure to pair it with a compliment to their personality so you don’t make them think you’re shallow.

By the way, if you wanted to know what the woman described in Song of Solomon looked like, it might have been something like this...

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
