In a recent interview with Real Girls magazine, commercial actress Dolly Mattel shared her thoughts on being a success in the world of advertising women’s products. The interview was as follows:
“Just be yourself was the best advice I ever received. That is the best way to get noticed in the world of advertising. I was simply eating a bowl of salad and laughing into the beam of sunlight that appeared before me when I was discovered by my agent. Just thinking about that tiny salad from my new nutritional plan makes me spontaneously burst into a fit of soft, feminine chuckles.”
When asked about what she enjoys the most about her job, she replied:
“It doesn’t even feel like a job to me anymore. In fact, all I have to do is live my everyday life in front of the cameras. My favorite part of the daily routine is when the cameras get a shot of the cartoon flowers that sprout from my hair when I use my special shampoos.”
She later elaborated on the highlights of her career, and recalled her most memorable performances.
“My favorite commercial was probably the Rusty Dan’s hamburger commercial where I enjoyed my triple patty bacon cheeseburger on the beach in my new bikini. I got to show off my skinny, sexy new beach bod while seductively biting into 6,000 calories of fried goodness. It was just a typical Thursday for me!"
Another one of my favorites was the car commercial I starred in with fellow commercial actor, Guy Armstrong. I was one of the ‘speedy girls’ who cheered him on as he drove his brand new Lynx through the desert while shaving with a ManEdge razor.”
Mattel is also a proud mother, which has provided her with many new career opportunities.
“My kids are constantly spilling liquids all over the carpet and giving me opportunities to perform my favorite motherly duty: cleaning up after them. I am always ready to meet the incessant spills with a smile, a shrug, and a new cleaning product to advertise.”
The interview ended with her thoughts on being a role model for women.
“I just think it’s really great that women and girls can have a real person like me to look up to,” she concluded, smiling blankly as we snapped one last picture.
