Moving home for the summer is an interesting experience. Many college students find themselves experiencing some of the same emotions that Serena, Blaire and the Upper East Side know all too well.
1. Realizing that all of your college friends are hours away, and without them, you have nothing to do.
What’s the point of having a break if you have absolutely nothing to do?
2. Eating a home-cooked meal for the first time since Christmas.
Now that you are back home, you can raid the fridge whenever you want; mom's spaghetti has never tasted so good.
3. Running into high school friends in your hometown
It usually involves some kind of awkward interaction where you pretend to care how they are and vice versa, and then you both say you hope to see them again, even though you really don’t.
4. Everyone is always wondering the same thing
Everyone and their grandmother want to know if you’re in a relationship.
5. Most of your high school friends have changed and so have you, which leaves you in a weird limbo state.
It's widely known that college changes people; moving home from college, trying to reconnect with high school friends can be a challenge.
6. However, there is that one friend who is your best friend for life.
The best part about summer is getting to see your best friend who is more of a sister; whenever you see each other it's like you never left.
7. Seeing all of your friends with their seemingly perfect relationships.
Nothing makes being single harder than constantly being surrounded by your friends and their ooey gooey relationships.
8. Realizing that the expectations you had at the beginning of the summer were unrealistic.
Everyone goes into the summer expecting it to be the best 3 months of their life, but by the time August rolls around the reality that summer is ending hits hard.
9. Having to say goodbye to the new life you made at home.
When it comes down to it, you get used to your life at home; never wanting to have to leave, but the end of summer inevitably comes and it’s time to go back to college.
