This new movie, "The Interview," has become the most dangerous dumb comedy in the world. A movie staring the infamous bromance with James Franco and Seth Rogen has recently been scrapped all together by Sony. What was supposed to be a comedy has turned into threats of the next 9/11 if theaters show this movie.
The premiere date for Christmas day has been since canceled but the ultimate release information is unknown. The movie plot depicts the assignation of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Accordingly, North Korea has taken much offense to this comedy.
When is it too much? A comedy has fired shots at the supreme leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un.
This past week, Sony has been hacked by presumably North Koreans. They have made threats to repeat a similar attack to 9/11 to those who attend this movie in theaters. The attackers call themselves The Guardians of Peace. In fear for the safety of movie watchers, many major theaters have opted not to screen this controversial movie. These threats have not been taking lightly as major theaters such as Regal, AMC, and Cinemark have chosen not to screen the movie.
"Those who attacked us stole our intellectual property, private emails, and sensitive and proprietary material, and sought to destroy our spirit and our morale — all apparently to thwart the release of a movie they did not like. We are deeply saddened at this brazen effort to suppress the distribution of a movie, and in the process do damage to our company, our employees, and the American public," the company said.
