"Come to SLU! Come to SLU!"

This has been chanted by a few of my friends and me these past few days now that tours are happening more frequently on campus. This campus has changed so many people's lives, including mine, and I'm sure if you were to ask anyone on campus they would tell you they want other people to experience the same thing.

Seeing other people touring campus brings me back to this time approximately a year ago. I came up on the Saturday of SpringFest, which happens to be tomorrow, and toured with two other families and their college-bound kid. I didn't have strong feelings one way or the other for St. Lawrence, and I was hoping that my tour would help me form a better opinion.

However, my first view of SLU campus was not a very positive one. Many people were walking around with alcoholic drinks, beer cans were everywhere, and people were partying due to "Springfest preparations" my tour guide claimed. To say the least, I did not fall in love like many of my friends claim they did. If someone, anyone, would have came up to me and told me to come here, I wouldn't have had such a negative first impression. This is why I (along with my friends) want to make sure that others get the first impression they deserve, and more accurate than the one I had.

What is that impression? People here are friendly, hardworking, and SLU is a safe place to be. It's a home. There will always be parties no matter where you go, but you can get away from that, even on SLU's small campus.

So if you hear a couple of students chanting, "Come to SLU," that's just me and a couple of other students who absolutely love being here, and want other people to find a home like we did.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
