Come for the gays, stay for the plot.

4 LGBTQ Shows To Bingewatch
TV Fanatic

Looking for some some quality shows with decent LGBTQ+ representation? Me too. But for now, here are four super queer shows to watch instead of doing homework.

1. "The Fosters"

The Freeform series centers around the lives of Stef and Lena and their adopted children, who deal with the ups and downs of parenthood and growing up. Think Parenthood, but queer.

2. "Transparent"

"Transparent" tells the story of a transgender woman named Moira, who is ready to come out to her family after struggling with her gender identity for most of her life. While Moira is the main focus, we do see into the lives of her children and how they react to her news and the struggles that must overcome in their own lives. While it is problematic that a cisgender actor is playing the role of a transgender woman, the Amazon show tries its best to make up for it in acting and narrative.

3. "Orange is the New Black"

With a diverse and talented cast, OITNB is a drama/comedy about a women’s prison in upstate New York. Many of the characters and actors are LGBTQ+ and/or people of color. A unique aspect of the show are perhaps the flashbacks of characters’ lives prior to being incarcerated that help paint a better picture of who they are and who they used to be and how they got convicted in the first place. The Netflix series as a whole deals with the complexities of relationships, drug addiction, police brutality, and the current private prison industrial system, shedding light on the mistreatment of prisoners and the lack of regulation in private prisons. While some of these are heavy topics, the show is also hysterical and witty.

4. "Shameless"

"Shameless" (U.S.) is a Showtime series about a highly dysfunctional family living in the south side of Chicago. The parents are alive but absent, mostly due to a sheer lack of care and extreme alcoholism, which ultimately forces their eldest daughter to take care of her five younger siblings all be her lonesome. While "Shameless" is not a queer show per se, there are a growing amount of LGBTQ characters that definitely carry the plot and add a bit more flavor to the already rambunctious and unconventional world of the Gallagher family and their friends.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
