As a graduating college senior, I can confidently say that I am ready to move on to the next chapter in my life - whatever that looks like. I will miss college friends and experiences, but I won't miss these 11 school-related items that took a hit on my bank account.

1. Textbooks

Not having to pay over $200/semester just for textbooks we probably won't even use really puts finances in perspective.

2. Rubbermaid Containers

@rubbermaid

You may still have these around your living space, but at least you don't have to cram all of your belongings in tubs under your dorm bed.

3. Cheap utensils

@meredithphoto

Gone are the days of disposable forks.

5. Thumb And Sticky Tack

The most stressful part of decorating a dorm room was finding things that both wouldn't wreck the walls and would keep things up.

5. Heavy duty backpacks

@thekawaiishoppu

The first semester, style wins over practicality. However, every semester after that proves that usefulness is the best way to go. Now you don't have to worry about purchasing an overpriced (but needed) backpack.

6. Bed Risers

@dandalydesign

Now you have the freedom to purchase any bed you want with whatever hight bed frame you choose.

7. Shower Caddies

@uni_shoponline

The freedom of having the space to spread your things out in the shower in unmatched.

8. Insane Amounts Of Stationary And Miscellaneous Supplies

@law.study.habits

No need for six binders and 12 highlighters anymore.

9. Shower Shoes

@lalotactical_mt

Feel free to finally go barefoot in the comfort of your own shower.

10. Rolling Storage Units

@harperandharlowph

Gone are the days where you store all your mugs and K-cups in a rolling metal bin.

11. Mini Fan

@rou_0107

You no longer have to live for that few seconds of cool air while working on homework.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
