To The College Student Worried About The Future

No matter how many scenarios you calculate in your head, life is not going to be exactly like a single one.

To the college student worried about the future,

I totally get it. Everything is changing around you. College is a weird time in life. You have some friends who may still be in high school. Some friends live at home with their parents. Others have apartments or houses. Still more life in dorms on campus half the time, but live with their parents when school isn't in session.

Some people are dating. Some are single. Some are engaged. Some are married. Some are pregnant. Some have kids.

Some have full-time or part-time jobs. Others don't work a day in their lives. Still, others more are in school full time and take classes year round.

There are a lot of different walks of life that people are living, even though they might be close to you in age. Just because you are the same age, or even just close in age, doesn't mean that you need to be doing the same things in life that they are.

Everyone's timing through life is going to be different, and that's okay.

So many people want to plan out every little step of their lives, but that can be dangerous. Some people's cookie cutter plans work out just perfectly for them, but most of the time that is not the case. There are going to be hiccups in life. Things that we don't expect. Why?

Because God's plans are better than your plans.

You may think that what you want should be what God would want for your life. So many people make that mistake, myself included. You think, "Wow this is such a good life plan. This is how I want my life to play out!"

God has something better, I guarantee it.

Trust in God's timing in your life.

Don't rush through the season that God has you living in. Be patient, and wait for Him. Don't worry about tomorrow or the next day, or what will happen when you do or don't get accepted to that program in college that you wanted, or you don't have a job lined up after graduation, or you want to get married when you think the time is right. Get this: It's not all about you, so you don't have to worry about it!

Give Him your burdens, every single one.

He can take care of you now, and He's already taken care of your future. So stop worrying! Keep praying about everything, but God created us to live in the Now with Him. Forever and ever. And never forget how much He loves YOU.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
