College: SNL Digital Short Edition

Too accurate.

College: SNL Digital Short Edition

Once upon a time, there was a YouTube based band called "Lonely Island". Then, one of the members known to the world as Andy Samberg was cast on Saturday Night Live; one of the longest running television shows in history. Samberg was one of the biggest game-changers in the shows history, mainly by bringing their sketches onto the world of YouTube, which was getting more and more popular by the minute. This YouTube and digital short mania was led by Samberg's band, "The Lonely Island". Since Samberg's entry onto the show in 2005, there have been over 100 digital shorts.

And they describe college accurately...maybe TOO accurately.

10. I'm on a Boat

If you replace "boat" with "campus bus transportation" it's BASICALLY the same idea! Right...?

9. The Creep

Just because you think someone in your seminar class is cute does NOT mean you're allowed to stalk them down!

(Slightly serious note)

If you ever feel in danger or are in a situation with a creepy human making you uncomfortable please report it to your campus' authorities!

8. Shy Ronnie

You know that really shy student who doesn't say much at all? Yeah-turns out his rap skills are wild. He's probably going to be the life of the party/why the party gets shut down.

7. Boombox

http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/digit...

Featuring Julian Casablanca, this short perfectly encapsulates the kind of "house" music you'll be hearing for the next four years.

6. J*zz in My Pants

So this really doesn't SHOULDN'T apply to college, but it's really funny, okay?

5. Threw it on the Ground

I'm going to ask you to go back into your computer/cellphone hard-drive and/or facebook album entitled "Freshmen Year! First Semester!". Yeah. You know exactly what I'm talking about. You know, when you dressed a SMIDGE too much like a hipster fighting against the "man". At this point in your college career you were probably trying prove to yourself and others that you were above and beyond your high school self...silly freshman....

4. Like a Boss

Ahhh yes, just when you think you had college figured out-- LOL SILLY STUDENT!!!! See, you may "act" like a boss, but in reality you're just trying to break down the acronym for FAFSA.

3. I Just Had Sex

You know that banging you hear from your neighbors on Saturday around 2 o'clock in the morning? Yeah, they aren't studying... Sometimes it's best during these situations to go find their (sexiled) roommate in the lounge and keep them company until the "coast is clear".

2. Natalie Portman Rap

http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/natal...

I think Natalie sums up her Harvard experience pretty well here. I would say that after hours of studying, we all feel like breaking out into this famous tune.

1. D*ck in a Box

This quite literally is the best part of college - stick with me I promise there is a valuable lesson! When you go into college you're, most likely, pretty lonely and homesick. Then that one *~magical~* day, you find that one person who is exactly like you; same major, same interests, same hairstyle, even! Eventually you find yourselves getting into some whacky shenanigans, but if it's with you're best friend, it makes for a GREAT story.

What's your favorite SNL Digital short?!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
