As summer ends and I start packing for college, I keep trying to think of everything that I might need. It may seem to easy to pack but, let's face it, once you move into school you'll realize that there's at least one thing that you forgot to bring.

When you move into school, you're moving your entire life from home to a tiny dorm room, apartment or house. You can't bring everything with you, but you definitely have to bring most things. How do you come up with a list that covers every single little thing that you may need at your home away from home?

Here are items that are definitely smart to pack but you may not have thought to put on your list.

1. Extra toothbrush

You might accidentally drop your toothbrush on the floor of the public dorm bathroom. Or you might just want to change your toothbrush. Either way, bringing an extra toothbrush is a great idea.

2. Hangers

You'll be so focused on choosing which clothes to bring to school and which clothes to leave at home that you may forget that you need hangers to put your clothes on in your closet. These are a necessity.

3. Poo-Pourri toilet spray

You're mostly likely going to be sharing a bathroom with a ton of other people when you're at school. Just trust me with this one.

4. Vacuum

If you're someone with long hair, a vacuum is a great tool. Your floor is going to get gross quick, so you'll want something to clean it with.

5. Brita filter

No one wants to drink tap water from the bathroom sink. Get a Brita.

6. Snacks

There are just some nights when you're hungry but don't want to leave your room to get food from the dining hall. Definitely hide some snacks around your college room to munch on late at night.

7. Garbage bags

You may need to bring a garbage can with you or your school might supply one. Either way, you'll have to supply your own garbage bags. And you'll definitely want them, because no one wants something sticky on the bottom of their garbage can.

8. First aid kit

Maybe it's just me because I'm clumsy, but there have been a few times when I have desperately needed a Band Aid and haven't had one. Bring the first aid kit your mom buys for you.

9. Sewing kit

If you know how to sew, this is a must-have item. Your clothes will get holes, your buttons will fall off and sometimes a safety pin (which you should also bring) just won't be enough. Don't forget a tiny sewing kit.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
