How a college ministry can change your life.
Coming to college can be scary, especially for a Christian, because the image of college that is broadcasted is one of two things. You either party all the time or you study all the time, there is no in between. However, college really isn't like that at all. Which I didn't understand until I started attending The Hill.
At The Hill I found a home. A home where people from all cultures, dominations, and lifestyles meet to worship one God with one purpose. All college ministry's offer this opportunity. You hear all the time about college students finding there home sororities or fraternities. How awesome is it to say that you found your home in a God Centered student lead ministry. Matthew 18:20 says " For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
College isn't known for creating a relationship with God. But it should be. There is college ministry's on every campus. Find one where you feel at home. Instead of going to church being a chore, you find belonging and you are excited to go worship with your friends and days after you are still talking about how amazing the service. You become best friends with the members and you meet your life long friends there. I know I did, my best friend is the one encouraged me to attend and kept me going even when I felt down on myself. I met my accountability partner for life through a college ministry. The bible says, "Proverbs 27:17 - Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."
Find and join a college ministry. Even if you don't know who Jesus is or why we do what we do when we are together. I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and join a service. Bring a friend or two so you aren't alone. But come see Gods awesome work through a bunch of college students. Allowing God to work in your life is one thing, but witnessing God transform another person is the greatest joy of them all. As disciples of Jesus we are born to step out and lead others to him. That is one of the main goals in every college ministry. You can make the difference and be Gods light on campus!
The Hill is the college ministry that changed my life. I found my home and gave my life back to God at The Hill college ministry. It changed my life forever and I am sure that a college ministry can change yours too.
Join a college ministry to see what all you can do there! It might just change your life and how you see your relationship with God and value your relationship with your Jesus loving friends more highly! If your campus doesn't have a college ministry then allow God to use you to be the light on campus.
