7 Songs That Sum Up College Life

Every college students knows the struggle of being underaged, lazy, irresponsible, and unprepared. Fortunately, there are famous artists that get paid thousands of dollars (aka our tuition) to put these struggles into words.

1. "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars

"Today I don't feel like doing anything, I just want to lay in bed. Don't feel like picking up my phone so leave a message at the tone 'cause I swear I'm not doing anything"

With the exception of Netflix this pretty much sums up every college student's Monday through Thursday. We know, college is for going to class and learning but laying in bed with Netflix and pizza sounds so much more appealing.

2. "Twenty-One" by Corey Smith

"When I was only 17, couldn't wait for 21 I'd hang around on Clayton Street in the bars there getting drunk. A baseball cap and a fake ID would get me in the clubs then I would dance with the college girls and lie about who I was."

Trust us Corey, we feel you. Freshmen and sophomores all over America know the constant struggle of being underaged.

3. "I Love College" by Asher Roth

"I wanna go to college for the rest of my life. Sip bankers club and drink miller lite on thirsty Thursday and Tuesday night ice and I can get pizza a dollar a slice"

So maybe we're not always lazy with Bruno! Sometimes college students actually do get motivated. Who cares if it's for the wrong reasons? Motivation is motivation.

4. "I Hate College (Remix)" by Sammy Adams

"I hate college but love all the parties, finishing kegs and crushing bottles of Bacardi. Can't go to class, I'd rather lay up with a hottie"

So maybe no one is drinking Bacardi (because let's be honest, Aristocrat is much more affordable) but that pretty much sums it up for most college students out there. Classes just can't really compete with weekend festivities.

5. "Stop This Train" by John Mayer

"Honestly, won't someone stop this train? So scared of getting older. I'm only good at being young so I play the numbers game to find a way to say life has just begun."

College isn't just about Netflix and partying. College is when you figure out what you're doing for the rest of your life. Decisions like these come with a lot of "where'd the time go? I'm not ready to be an adult" moments. Shout out to John Mayer for making these mental breakdowns into a song and making it sound beautiful.

6. "Grow Up" by Simple Plan

"I don't wanna be told to grow up and I don't wanna change, I just wanna have fun!"

If I only I knew how true these lyrics would become when I was listening to Simple Plan in middle school. College is this awkward time period of still being young and wild but also growing up and being mature. Sometimes we just want to skip growing up and stay young and fun.

7. "Scholarship" by Juicy J

"You a college chick, you a college chick. Keep twerking baby, might earn you a scholarship"

Part of growing up is becoming financially responsible and it sucks. College students are willing to do just about anything for a scholarship. Whether it be twerking or getting hit by cars, you name it, we'll do it. Thanks for giving us poor college girls an anthem, Juicy J.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
