Coffee sucks. There is no way around it. At every point in my life, I have heard "Once you get to {high school/college/working} you won't be able to get through the day without it!" I beg to differ. Here are XX confessions of a college student who hates coffee.

1. No, I don't want to meet for coffee.

Meeting at Starbucks or a local coffee shop is typically the easiest place for a get together - there's free wifi, they always have pastries, and it's more inexpensive when compared to going out for lunch/dinner. But that doesn't change the fact that coffee dates are like death dates.

2. Yes, I always get my energy fix in one way or another.

Whether it's a soda, meditation, exercise, or even tea, I need an energy fix throughout the day. Since I don't enjoy coffee, I have to get creative with how I get my daily pick me up.

3. Truthfully, your bean water smells and tastes disgusting.

There's nothing wrong with this, it's just a fact of life.

4. And those frappe cappuccino latte drinks look disgusting too.

Personally, I don't see the point in a froo-froo coffee drink, but if you do - more power to you.

5. Yes, it IS possible to make it through the day without a coffee.

I've done it everyday for the past 20+ years. It is definitely possible to get through the day without a coffee drink.

6. Your sizing makes no sense. At all.

Why is a small called a tall?

7. Yes, I understand all of your coffee jokes.

Just because I don't drink coffee doesn't mean I don't understand the light humor in the "I need coffee" phrase used around campus all day long.

8. Every time I see a Starbucks line with 10+ people there, I think to myself "Is it REALLY that great?"

I'll definitely do my fair share of waiting for something I find valuable like concert tickets, Chick-Fil-A, a smoothie bar, but I seriously cannot figure out why anyone would wait so long for coffee.

9. Believe it or not, it is possible to start your day without coffee.

When people find out I don't drink coffee, I inevitably receive the question "How do you start your day?!" Ummm, I wake up? I totally get that once you're dependent on this drink it's difficult to get started without it, but believe me - it is definitely possible.

10. There is absolutely no flavor of coffee I enjoy. Please stop giving me recommendations.

I frequently hear "You need to try______" or "I bet you would like_______." Believe me, I've tried so many flavors and I have hated them all equally.

11. No, I'm not judging you for dropping $5 daily on a sugary drink.

(But I kind of am)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
