J. Cole's Album 4 Your Eyez Only dropped on December 9, 2016, and people have mixed reviews on this 10 track album. Personally, I love it. I enjoy music that tells a narrative through lyrics and soothes the soul with a cool beat, and 4 Your Eyez Only definitely does that for me. The album touches base on many of his personal views: his life, fatherhood, the world, black lives, the relationship between civilians and cops, and of course the rap game. Within this album is a deep message; some theories suggest it is a recollection of his friend's life as opposed to his own. Interludes of a little girl saying she misses her daddy and pictures of children are rumored to have a connection with this theory.

An overwhelming amount of people are not fans of this album. Maybe they're uncomfortable because the subjects at hand make them uncomfortable and the album isn't full of trap beats and lyrics about women, drugs, and money.
I am a fan of music with a message, so I have to give J. Cole a round of applause for being a true lyricist, and giving meaning to his work.
