When I saw this group of people had dropped a collab, I knew it had to be good. Major Lazer teamed up with MØ to create the summer smash of last year that was Lean On that turned into the jam that everyone bumped to for months and months. Remixes are still being thrown out from that OG track to this day. The Jack Ü dream team of Where Are Ü Now was reunited as well. Two great tracks from two great combos come together as one? Bless.
Justin begins the track his classic ~boyfriend~ vocals, mashed with the impeccable production of Major Lazer. The last verses are taken over by MØ to combine with Bieber and slow down to a beautiful finish; a perfect landing to a joyous ride.
A little background if you didn’t already know: Major Lazer was formed in 2009 by Diplo and Switch. The group fluctuates around 4 members at a time. This year it included Jillionaire and Walshy Fire as well. Diplo remains the fighting force of the project whilst keeping his own tracks dropping as well. Working under the record label ‘Mad Decent’ these artists have found their spot in the producing world and created a strong named label in the biz.
A little more than a year ago, I had the pleasure of seeing MØ in California. This Danish QUEEN truly was one of my absolute favorite performances of all time. I was in the second row with a prime spot for the 2 times she decided to jump into the crowd, as well as the majority of the show where she stood on the speakers to sing closer to all of us. There was an awkward space between the audience, the gate, and the stage, but MØ compleeeetely bridged that divide and stayed close to her fans- that is, when she wasn’t running around the stage and dancing her heart out. She ended her set with Lean On- singing, dancing, running and jumping. She made that track her own.
Biebs, Major Lazer, and the queen herself all together on a track? Bless up.
