If you are like me, you probably have a product for anything that you need on a daily basis. Sooner or later you start to get tired of having so many products that take up so much space. In order to increase shelf space, I have been trying to multi-purpose some products but it does not always work out as planned. Except for coconut oil. Now, you might be thinking its a bit odd to replace everyday products with coconut oil, but believe me: it works! It is such an incredibly versatile product that I just think everyone should know about. The possibilities are pretty much endless, but this is just a short list of the most common everyday uses for coconut oil:
1. Exfoliation.
Not only will this exfoliate your skin, but you will be left with a healthy glow afterward because of the moisturizing properties coconut oil has as well. I usually take a dime size amount of oil, and a tad bit of sugar and rub it all over my face. Prepare for baby soft skin.
2. Makeup remover.
At first, this one may feel a bit weird because it is so oily, but it is great to remove makeup - especially the waterproof eye makeup, because it is an oil.
3. Fights acne.
It may seem contradictory because it is an oil, but it works wonders. You see, when fighting acne the immediate response is to eliminate oil. However, the skin also needs oil to maintain itself. When you get rid of all oil, your body naturally wants to replace the oils, thus causing more acne. It's a vicious cycle.
4. Wound care.
Coconut oil can heal wounds due to its amazing antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing and healing properties. Coconut oil can also keep infections at bay and prevent scarring. Clearly this would be for minor wounds; anything major would need to be treated by a medical professional.
5. Aftershave.
I cannot emphasize enough how great of a moisturizer this is! Our skin can be dry, especially after shaving, and there is nothing better for your skin than coconut oil. It is extremely soothing and will definitely take care of any razor burns.
6. Hair mask.
This will definitely help your hair grow long and strong! Leaving your hair extra smooth and silky is always a plus. It will also take care of any breakage problems that you may have.
