What would you do for a lifetime of fame? Paint a picture, write a best-selling novel, perform a symphony? In this current day, we, unfortunately, achieve recognition through stupidity instead of hard work. In some cases, people will achieve fame through nefarious means. But is worth it in the end?
Take what happened back in late June, where a girl in Texas thought it would be a great idea to lick a carton of Blue Bell Ice Cream and put it back in the freezer. Justice did prevail though because Lufkin police later identified her but kept her identity under wraps due to her being a minor. We may never know her name, but her engaging in indecent behavior will forever be on the Internet for the whole world to see. It doesn't stop there, though! Her stunt has unfortunately led to copycats incidents where people have tampered with the creamy frozen dessert. This isn't just about ice cream, though. Another person thought that backwashing mouthwash would be hilarious and spitting in a bottle of Arizona Ice Tea would leave you in stitches!
There was a time where we would put in the hard work to achieve a lifetime of fame with the results being that of inspiring others. Gaining recognition nowadays is just a person putting in minimal effort and getting worldwide attention. In the cases I stated above, the people's lives have gotten worse instead of better. Engaging in these types of actions will hinder them from ever living a normal life. What happens when they want to start a family or when they seek employment? This is what happens when you focus on short term fame rather than long term consequences. Content like this will be on the Internet forever and will forever alter your personal perception of how people view you.
