Writing is hard.

We all know it, but writing is also one of the most rewarding things you can do. While the late nights, sore eyes and coffee intake is a lot to handle, seeing your byline in an article you spent your time on is the most rewarding thing that can happen. Seriously, once you get your name in one publication, you'll want to add to that list.

For the students at Cleveland State University, finding an outlet isn't as hard as it might seem. Between the amazing student-run publications on campus producing magazines and newspapers to the also student-run online publications, there's a whole slew of places just waiting for you to write up a good story.

While some are specifically program oriented, like the Cleveland Stater, other publications like the Vindi or the Cauldron are open to any student wanting to test out their writing skills.

Check out a list of publications from Cleveland State University below!

1. Odyssey

I have a feeling you already know a little bit about Odyssey...I mean, I'd hope so anyway. Odyssey is a contributing writing website where you have the ability to talk about anything you want! From boyfriend issues to how sick Alkaline Trio is, Odyssey is a good place for you to get some bylines attached to your name before going into the world!

If you'd like to apply, you can do so by following this link, connecting with your Facebook, and applying to Cleveland State's community.

2. The Cauldron

The Cauldron is Cleveland State's bi-weekly student-run newspaper! Comprised of news, arts and entertainment, sports, feature, and opinion, the Cauldron is student's chance to see things happening in and around Cleveland State. This year, the staff at the paper decided to branch out into the Cleveland area, so expect to see more interesting topics than just Cleveland State-centered stories!

Do you have an idea or want to write for the Cauldron? You can send them an email at cauldroneditors@gmail.com

You can check out the Cauldron's website here!

3. The Vindicator

Much like the Cauldron, the Vindicator is a student-run and contributor-based Arts and Culture magazine. Full of multiculturalism, social justice, and artistic expression, the Vindi is full of diverse opinions while achieving the task of being the voice of the students.

If you have a story in mind, you can pitch it to submit.vindi@gmail.com.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
