Six reasons why you should clean your makeup brushes regularly

It's fun to use all 40 of your makeup brushes in one sitting to create the perfect going-out glam look. But, on other hand, having to clean all of those brushes the next day may not be so fun. Though it may seem like an obvious necessary evil to being a makeup fanatic, makeup brushes must be cleaned. Despite this, many people do not wash their makeup brushes regularly. Washing your makeup brushes is a major key. Here are a few reasons why:

1. Acne

Liquid and powder makeup products can often develop bacteria when exposed in the open for too long. Putting bacteria and germs back onto your face with an unwashed makeup brush can aggravate underlying skin conditions, such as acne and blackheads. Not to mention, if you have any open sores, wounds or cracked skin, the bacteria from your dirty brushes or sponges can find their way in there and cause an infection.

2. Skin Irritation

When using brushes, such as ones used to apply liquid foundation or concealer, it is very easy for the leftover product to dry on the bristles of the brushes. When reused, the bristles will then be rougher. Not only will this make your skin rougher, but whatever product you are putting on your skin using the unwashed brush will not apply as smoothly.

3. Color Change

With leftover products on your makeup brushes, it can be nearly impossible to obtain an entirely new look with the colors you want to use. Since the previous colors you used can get stuck on the bristles, your new colors will stick and stray from the actual color you were looking to wear.

4. Breakage

Dried up products that are left on the bristles of your makeup brushes can cause them to become very rough. If the bristles on your brush become too rough, they will eventually begin to break off. Makeup brushes are very pricey. It may not be too easy for you to replace them if they become damaged.

5. Dead Skin Cells

Your makeup brushes carry a very large amount of dead skin cells that your face naturally sheds. If unwashed, the brushes will only spread around the dead skin cells on your face and prevent your skin from developing healthy.

6. Herpes

This is one problem that many may not know about. The reason why lip brushes and wands should be cleaned regularly is, when they're shared or when too much bacteria develops on them, you can contract a case of herpes, which is definitely not fun.

After reading these reasons, I hope everyone rushes to wash their brushes!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
