Really, Corporate America? Christmas In October?
Decorator's Warehouse

So it's the second week of October. I went to TJ Maxx to buy myself a scarf and anything else I could possibly find (because I lack all self control in that store). Anyways, I walked back by the decorations to smell candles and I noticed something out of place. Christmas decorations.

Every year I feel like the decorations come out sooner and sooner, and quite honestly I hate it. It's not even Halloween. Thanksgiving is over a month away. I'm still trying to go to a haunted houses, not drink hot cocoa and watch Rudolph prance around.

Good god, you can even go target and buy tree skirts already, it's ridiculous.

I'm so fed up with pushing for dragged out seasons and holidays. It's like listening to your favorite song in slow motion. Just think about how awful that would sound. Now you know how I feel about this.

I wish we could go back to a more traditional sense and that that would be accepted.

A perfect example of that would be how the Mall of America is staying closed on Thanksgiving. People are outraged because they can't shop at 10 pm. for the deals that were once at 3 a.m. on the actual day of Black Friday. It's Thanksgiving people! Spend time eating food and with family. It's the culture we've collectively created and it's repulsive.

The Christmas decorations need to be put back until November 1st. The holiday should be celebrated on just that day. The pumpkin spice latte should not come before fall even starts.

Get it together, people!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
