Christmas is practically here, folks! Santa is on his way, elves are on the shelves, and all we have to do is hang on through finals. So, in honor of our pending holiday, here are some of the citizens of Pawnee to help walk us through some of the common emotions we all feel come Christmas-time.
1. When the Christmas spirit starts to hit
Nothing is better than being able to say "Merry Christmas" and not having people look at you funny. Once December rolls around, it's officially Christmastime, and no one can tell me any differently.
2. When you hear Christmas music start to play
Who cares if you get the words wrong? It's Christmas, darn it! It's all about the spirit of things... which Leslie Knope is an expert at.
3. When you somehow get a good gift for that hard-to-shop-for person
There's always that one person that you never know what in the world to get them. But when they open the gift and it's something that you spent hours scouring Amazon and Etsy for, it makes everything so worth it.
4. When you have to get *creative* with some of your gifts
Okay, listen. Being a college student and trying to get gifts for all of the wonderful people in your life can get very challenging very quickly. Money can be really tight around the holidays, and gifts are no exception.
5. When you're shopping for gifts and see something you want to get for yourself
I had to find a reason to include this GIF, and this is actually very applicable. Do I want that dress? Heck yeah. Do I have a good enough reason to buy it for myself using my own money? Not really.
6. When you and your friends manage to hang out around Christmastime
Coordinating schedules with friends is hard, even when on break. People have family commitments, jobs, and more that they have to deal with. So when you get to spend time with your friends and celebrate the Christmas spirit, it's a win-win.
7. When that relative gives you socks again
Gut reaction: "These are fine, I guess. These are very nice socks. Thanks."
8. When you realize you actually wanted/needed socks
Main reaction: "Holy cow, thank you. I needed these. I've worn the same pair of socks for three days in a row because I didn't want to do laundry and fold clothes."
9. When you eat all of the holiday food
We've all done this, starting exactly on Thanksgiving. Once that holiday rolls around, then the extra-yummy food goes into overdrive. So when you go home and eat all the nice food at once, you start to feel like Chris. But you're happy about it. And that's what matters, right?
10. When it's Christmas Eve
Yes. Yes please. One sleep until Christmas? Bring it on. I'm so ready.
11. When it's Christmas Day
The whole year has basically been leading up to this day, and you're so excited that you can't believe it. Every moment is filled with Christmas music and cheer and yes, it's great, thanks.
12. When you realize that the Christmas season is winding down

13. When Christmas is over
Oh. So it's over? What am I going to do now? Take down my decorations, and try to accept on the fact that it'll be frowned upon to continue to play Christmas music and watch Elf on repeat?
14. When you realize there's only 364 more days until Christmas
Well, that's okay. We've done it before, right guys? Besides, when there's a whole year in between, that's plenty of build up that can happen. Increased suspense, increased happiness later. Guaranteed.
Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I hope you have a great holiday season and an awesome break from school! May your holidays be restful and fun!
