You don't need to be a millionaire to get into the holiday spirit. If you want to skip the spending on expensive decorations this year, try some of these tricks.

1. Paper Snowflakes

Paper snowflakes aren't just crafts that little kids make. Once you learn how to make them, they can be pretty and intricate decorations. They're not only fun to make, but they are a very versatile decoration. You can tape them on almost anything or hang them on a string as garland. The sky is the limit.

Go on, turn your room into a blizzard.

2. String Lights

Basic string lights, when purchased at the right place, can be priced fairly cheap. Even one strand of string lights can add some Christmas joy to your life. You can hang them on your desk, on the walls, around your bed, around a mirror, or anywhere else your command hooks will allow.

Somehow, they make everything look kind of magical.

3. Christmas Coloring Book

A Christmas themed coloring book can be purchased at the dollar store for a few dollars. Inside of a coloring book, there's so much potential for decorations. You can take your time and color some pages while you watch a Christmas movie and get cozy with some hot chocolate. Once you're done, you can cut out what you want from the pages and hang them up as Christmas wall art.

Just don't forget to color in the lines.

4. Christmas Wrapping Paper On Door

A roll of wrapping paper with a holiday pattern can be purchased fairly cheaply. You can use some of this to cover your door with wrapping paper and make it look like a giant gift. Just don't forget your tape and scissors.

You can even add some ribbon or a bow if you want to get fancy.

5. Christmas Blanket

If you have a blanket at home with a Christmas pattern on it or you can find one that's affordable, a blanket can make a great decoration. Just throwing it on top of your bed can add just a little more whimsical holiday spirit right where you needed it. Bonus: You can actually use it when you're cold this season.

It's simple, cozy, useful, and elf approved.

6. Ornaments

Ornaments can usually be purchased in a case for a decent price. If you can grab them for a good bargain, ornaments can be very useful in amping up your room's Christmas mood. Whether you place some in a bowl or basket to set out, or maybe even put them onto a set of string lights. The good thing is they come with hooks, so use those hooks to your advantage and get creative.

Ornaments aren't just for trees anymore.

7. Fake Snow

You know that weird, white fluffy stuff that comes in a bag around this time of year. That fake snow might seem kind of boring, but when you use it in the right way, maybe with some string lights spun throughout it, it can be a magical addition to your room to make it look even more like a winter wonderland.

Get this stuff if you want to be sure to have a white Christmas.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
