The most awaited album release for every young-adult woman looking to relive her awkward middle school days has finally arrived, and it was well worth the wait.
Justin Bieber hasn't had a hit song since 2012 with "Boyfriend." He has been producing music, but not at the accelerated rate of the days of his early career, and no songs have come close to the glory days of "One Less Lonely Girl" and "Baby" - until now.
Since February of this year, Bieber has been releasing hit after hit, starting with "Where Are Ü Now" and culminating with the release of his album, "Purpose."
Not only are there the catchy songs like "Sorry" and "What Do You Mean," that girls and guys everywhere have been blasting through their car speakers, but there are heart-wrenching and beautifully written ballads that show Bieber's growth as an individual.
As many people know, Bieber has endured a lot within the past few years in terms of run-ins with the law and relationship drama. Impressively enough, he has made a comeback, and is doing so with his heart on his sleeve and one very important presence by his side: God.
"Purpose" has multiple songs that explain his current emotions and Who he owes them to. Justin Bieber has made a stand about his faith in an incredibly beautiful way.
"Life Is Worth Living"
Forgiveness is the highlighted theme of this ballad, where Bieber tells his audience that what the world sees isn't his reality, and even though his reputation is what the world sees of him, it's God's perception that matters. Cliché as it is, he even sings that "Only God can judge me." He sings of the forgiveness that he needs to give himself and that we all need to have - and he reminds us that life is always worth living.
"Purpose"
In the album's title song, Bieber lets it all hang out and simply says that "you've given me the best gift I've ever known, you've given me purpose." He is singing, and speaking at times, to the Lord, about how he is weak and he is understanding that life is just "how it is." The song begins as he describes his sadness and promises, and immediately sings that "I put my all into your hands as my soul to keep."
This can remind all Christians that even though, at times, we think our journeys have come to an end, we put our hearts in His hands and we can all find purpose in Him.
"All In It"
In the 18th and final song on Bieber's album, he tells us to do nothing unless we are all in it, with our whole hearts and our passion. With about 45 seconds left of the song, he goes into spoken word. In this, he says that he was searching for recognition in the wrong places and in the wrong ways - which every Christian struggles with at one point or another. But he explains God's grace in a way that makes it so simple to understand.
"With God, it's like he's perfect, and he never disappoints, so I just get my recognition from him, and give him recognition."
Bieber has come back to the music scene with such strength, and it is impossible to miss that it is because he found his place in faith. All we can do now is sit back and listen to the message that he is singing, hold on to every word, and let it inspire us, the way music is intended to.
