Tattoos.
When you're brought up in a Christian home you're told tattoos are bad, you shouldn't get them, and so much more. You're told that the Bible says in Leviticus 19:28, "Do not cut your bodies for the dead, or tattoo yourselves declares the Lord". If you just read that then yeah it says don't do it; however, in context, it's totally different. In context, the Lord is telling the Israelites what they can and can not do worship false idols.
Many people also believe that this verse is no longer relevant. This is in the old Testament. It was changed and is no longer the law because that was what Christ came to abolish. The old covenant is no longer what we live by, we live by the grace and love of Christ.
I am a Christian College student at Ouachita Baptist University.
I have four tattoos currently and every single one of them has a meaning and a purpose in my life. I am able to look at them and be reminded what they say every single day.
For the generation that we live in, aka Millennials, tattoos are becoming a much bigger thing. Little symbols or words are used as reminders for things they have been through. Tattoos are not only always there as a reminder but they create so many memories and opportunities as well. You never know who will ask you about a tattoo and when you can tell a part of your story. That memory of going and getting tattoos with friends is something that I will never forget.
If you get a tattoo, then don't get something that means nothing to you. Make sure that it has a meaning and a purpose. Tattoos are forever, so make sure that what you're putting on your body is something you want to see for forever.
