Chrissy Teigen: The Ultimate Role Model

Chrissy Teigen: The Ultimate Role Model

She's a model, she's a cook, she's married to singer/songwriter John Legend, and she's her own biggest critic. Not in a bad way--she just knows how to poke fun at herself, whereas most celebrities can't even handle a bad movie review. Chrissy Teigen is what every girl should strive to be.

In January, during the Golden Globes, a stray camera caught Chrissy during an emotional moment while she listened to her husband John give his acceptance speech for an award he won for Best Original Song. The picture immediately went viral, and made its way across Twitter, Instagram, and anywhere else people could think to put it on the Internet. Instead of being annoyed and taking her anger out on people who were making fun of her, the model almost immediately responded to the backlash by saying that she "didn't get a chance to practice her crying face".

Later on that night, Chrissy even posted her Instagram photo of her and John together, mocking her face from earlier in the night. The girl knows how to take a joke, that's for sure.

Most recently, Chrissy posted another photo on her personal Instagram. It was of her crossed legs, where the viewer can clearly see bruises and *gasp* stretch marks on her legs. But if you're a model, you can't have stretch marks, right? Wrong. The caption read, "Bruises from bumping kitchen door handles for a week. Stretchies say hi!"

The picture instantly went viral (Chrissy seems to have a knack for knowing how to blow up the Internet). She received praise from thousands of women everywhere, many of them thanking her for being so real and boosting their confidence. After all, if a world-renowned MODEL can have stretch marks, the rest of us can feel a little better about having them, right?

The moral of the story is that Chrissy Teigen brings a sort of carefree, lightheartedness that more of the rich and famous should have. She doesn't care too much about what people think of her, and she's absolutely okay with showing off her imperfections. She reminds us all that we're all human and we all have flaws. And she's hilarious, down-to-earth, and gorgeous. I guess I should tone it down before people accuse me of having a crush... but honestly, they wouldn't be too far off. If you're looking for someone to look up to, look no further than Chrissy. She's perfect because she's not.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
