Kids movies are awesome. They always know how to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And just like any other film or book, they allow for a great escape from reality. While you all may know of "Frozen", "Brave", "The Little Mermaid", and "Cinderella", there are some that have slipped through the cracks.
Here are just a few that you may have forgotten about:
1. FernGully (1992)
There are actually two "FernGully" tales. Both tells of the adventures of a handful of fairies that live in the rain forest and a very eccentric bat, who used to be experimented on by humans. Some of the cast include Samantha Mathis, Christian Slater, and Robin Williams. This tale is a wonderful example of the impact humans have on the environment and all of its creatures.
2. Thumbelina (1994)
"Thumbelina" follows a tiny girl born from a flower, who worries she will never find anyone her size. She soon catches the eye of a Prince of the Fairies before being kidnapped and going on a great adventure to find her love again. Some of the cast include Jodi Benson, Gary Imhoff, and Gilbert Gottfried. This is a wonderful tale of adventure, friendship, and love.
3. Pinocchio (1940)
This is a wonderful story of hope, love, and right and wrong, which is about a woodworker who wishes for the wooden doll he carved to be a real boy. When his wish is granted, a cricket becomes his guided conscious. However, the story takes a turn when the boy is lead astray. Some of the cast include Dickie Jones, Cliff Edwards, and Christian Rub.
4. The Iron Giant (1999)
This film tells of a young boy that befriends a giant alien robot that has crash landed in his small town and their journey to stop a paranoid government agent from destroying the giant. The cast includes Vin Diesel, Jennifer Aniston, and Eli Marienthal. This is a wonderful story of unlikely friendships, acceptance, and adventure.
5. Lady and the Tramp (1955)
"Lady and the Tramp" is a great tale of love and adventure that follows a pampered dog on her adventure in the streets where romance blossoms between her and a stray mutt that is helping to protect her. Some cast members include Peggy Lee, Barbara Luddy, and Larry Roberts.
6. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" portrays the adventures of a disfigured bell ringer who helps a gypsy woman avoid the clutches of his guardian. The cast includes Tony Jay, Demi Moore, and Tom Hulce. This is a great example of never judging someone based on their appearances.
7. The Rescuers (1977)
"The Rescuers" follows two members of the Rescue Aid Society as they journey to find and rescues a kidnapped orphan. Cast includes Eva Gabor, Bob Newhart, and Michelle Stacy. It is a great tale, displaying the value of family and love.
8. A Bug's Life (1998)
A great example of courage, strength, and the will to overcome anything, "A Bug's Life" tells the tale of a outcast ant who goes in search of bugs that can help save his colony from grasshoppers and make him a hero. This leads to a wonderful adventure full of mistaken identity, disaster, and comedy. The cast includes Kevin Spacey, Dave Foley, and John Lasseter.
