Child of the sea, Child of the sun, Child of the Endless Summer

I never feel like "me" until summer comes back around; it's like coming home

beach vibes

I have always been, and will always be, a summer child. My strongest, fondest, and happiest memories all happened during the summer. I was up before the sun, and sneaking back outside at night. I didn't care if I was sitting on the porch roof outside of my bedroom window, sandy and salty on the beach, or sleeping on a blanket in the backyard-as long I was outside, under the sun, or under the stars. In those summer months, I hardly slept, and I spent more time awake, taking in every little detail about summer and memorizing it all. I spent my days in a bathing suit and overalls, my hair in messy braids my mama had done days before, barefoot and sunkissed. It was never too hot for me, whether I was swimming in the ocean, riding my bike outside the neighborhood boundaries, or running through yards. My mama called me Wildchild because she couldn't keep me inside, and I was happiest running around dirty and free. Everyone else called me Pocahontas, with my bare feet, my dark hair in braids, and my skin getting so dark I was almost black. My Cherokee blood gave my skin that reddish tone, making me look more like Pocahontas with each passing day. As I got older, summer still brought out that wild-child-Pocahontas-spirit, but I spent my days surfing at the beach or lifeguarding at the local pool. I still hardly slept, but instead of spending nights outside alone, I had friends to keep me company, go on new adventures with, and create more fond summer memories.

If you haven't already discovered the cool trend of Types of Girls: Aesthetics, do yourself a favor and get familiar with it. In the meantime, here are some Summer Editions that take me back to those hot, carefree months of sunkissed skin, starry nights, and freedom.

All little bit of all them, a dark shade of life || types of people

@jupitermaverik Dark summer speaks to me on an emotional level ❤️

Summer: sunlight bathing the room at noon, waking up feeling brand new, lazy afternoons, the scent of roses through an open window, unexpected kindness, walks by the beach at sunrise, giving tummy rubs to a soft dog, a bouquet of flowers on the doorstep, little daydreams of starting new

Sunbeam: messy hair, warm hugs, athletics, movie marathons, muddy shoes, comfy shorts, high-fives, sitting in the grass on summer mornings, afternoon light

Girls are amazing

Types of Tired: Summer

All day at the beach sleepy, warm skin, wet hair, salt and sand and green apple-scented shampoo, bed sheet tides pulling up and down stomach flips into mermaid dreams

Types of People: Saltwater

Dark, tousled hair, ripped jeans, paintbrushes, lofty grins, swallowing hard, a little broken, trying desperately to be a good person

Types of People: Months

June: beachy waves, freckles, is addicted to sunshine, outdoorsy, adventurous, actually likes being active, a kind-hearted loner, can probably surf, has the best Instagram feed ever

July: bonfires, sparklers, cutoff jeans, dancing late into the night, wild laughter, picnics, running barefoot, free-spirit, iced lemonade, probably drives too fast, forever young

Beach Love!!

Summer: hair gets lighter, skin gets darker, water is warmer, drinks are colder, music gets louder, nights get longer, life gets better

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
