Life is about making tough decisions, what the consequences might be for that decision or what the rewards might be as a result. These are the decisions that we build experience with what is right and what is a wrong decision to make. One classic game that I can relate these decisions to is the game, Chess. When people think about chess, they think of the classic game moving the pieces around the board and checkmating the king to win the game. However, if you really analyze the game and learn to think ahead this game can have a major impact on life.

There are many professions that Chess can relate to such as art, when the artist scopes out the board and how to execute the steps to painting a great piece of work and others that involve thinking ahead. One main career that Chess can relate to is owning a business and the pieces in Chess symbolize the business’s assets. For instance, the business would be represented by the king and you need to protect the king with the other assets of the brigade in order to win over consumers from competition. Same concept when owning a business, in order for the business to succeed sales need to be made in order for revenue to be received. The whole game of chess is like steps to success in a business protect the king at all costs and if the king gets checkmated that equals bankruptcy for the business.

Another aspect of life that chess can relate to is the ability to be patient with what happens until your plan falls into play. The classic saying “slow and steady wins the race” are exactly the words that describes an outlook to have on life. When playing chess people are patient to think and plan their next move and in life some people are patient to wait for the one true love and find their passion that they hope to pursue in life. Patience is one of the key things that some people can learn from playing chess.

The entire game of chess is like living life you make good moves and that opens doors to great opportunities and when the opponent takes a piece thats life throwing a curve ball. If you enjoy to play chess then their is no reason why you shouldn't have a positive attitude on life. Keep thinking about how you keep going through the motions of life thinking about the future and how to get to a goal the best way. Every move you make in chess is like a decision you make in life it could be good or bad, but it will help you build as a person and in life in general. When you make decisions in life, like you make in chess remember to protect what the most important thing is at the moment.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
