Changing Majors is Not The End of The World.

Changing majors was the best decision I made in college.

Coming to college there are expectations of knowing exactly what you want to do, and that is rarely the case. There are so many people that don't really know what they want to do, or people that change their minds half-way through a program. It shouldn't be taboo to change to a new major that interests that person more than the one they currently have. I have changed my major twice and I feel like I can finally enjoy the classes I'm taking, and feel like I can do something with this major.

Coming to college right from high school, where you need permission to go to the bathroom, and then needing to know exactly what you what to do with the rest of your life is unrealistic in some cases. Of course people come to college knowing exactly what they want to do and they stick with it. But, just because people change their minds doesn't mean they failed. General educations are meant to help students explore new subjects, even though we all hate them, they really are a great resource for students to see what else is out there.

I know more people that have changed their major, or have added one, than those that have stayed with what they have originally intended. Making mistakes and changing majors is a rarely basic part of college for most students. Starting off as a psychology major, I thought I would love doing the classes and everything, but that was far from the case. I didn't like what I was doing in the classes, and the material I was learning was boring to me after a while. I loved some of the material I was learning, but I knew I wouldn't enjoy the the major as I whole. I changed to English Education, and I loved my classes. I thought it was something I would do the rest of my college career. But, I loved politics and loved to learn about law. So I changed to political science and I don't think I could have made a better choice.

I love my major, my classes, and everything that comes with it. I know my family was going crazy when I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but they feel this is the path I was meant to be on. Other people that change majors shouldn't need to worry about what other people think, because it is their career at the end of the day. If they love it, let them go for it without remarks such as "why are you changing your major" "are you sure you want to do that?" and so on.

Sometimes making a change is the best decision you can make. Trust in yourself and do what you feel you will love at the end of college.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
