Changing Living Situations In College Is Tedious, But Makes The Experience Even More Fun

For the majority of college students, four years is the average amount of time one will be enrolled in that specific college. This means that a student will have the chance to live in four different places during their time in college.

Yes, moving can be a hassle, but there is a bright side to all it as well.

Picking up and packing away all your belongings each year is a tedious and exhausting job. It can be even more difficult for those who live on higher floors because then you have to deal with stairs. Some people, however, decide that they are done packing up their things each year and live in the same place permanently. This might be the smarter thing to do if you are tired of losing things each time you move out, but what's the fun in that?

I am going on my junior year of college and have lived in three different areas. I had the opportunity to live in the same place each year, but I thought college was about the experience, and you cannot experience things living in the same place.

Yes, those who do live in a permanent place do not have to go through the whole moving process, but that entire process is what makes me excited.

I have lived in the dorms on-campus, an apartment off-campus, and now a house that is also off-campus. Each year I move, I get more and more excited because I get to experience a change in scenery and a different environment. Living in the same house or apartment would just become boring to me because I am all about the experience.

When moving into my new house this year, I saw so much potential for it. You cannot judge a book by its cover because there is always room for improvement, especially when six creative and artistic girls are living there. The projects that could be done to the house are endless, and it gets me pumped for what is to come.

It can be hard to imagine what will come to be when looking into an empty house, but as time moves along and rooms become decorated, the ideas begin to flow and the potential rises.

Every time I move, it is hard for me to imagine what will become of the place since nothing stands in front of me in the beginning. Every room is a project and it is something to do especially when nothing is going on.

I have lived with different people each year and I think that is something very smart to do, not just for me, but for everyone. I believe this because I have made more friends out of it, and it has brought me closer with other friends as well. You learn to cope with things you used to not be able to tolerate, and your perspective widens. Getting to know people and building relationships are the key factors when living somewhere new.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
