Easter Sunday is a time of celebration for Catholics and Christians. A holiday celebrating Jesus' rise from death; it is the end to a beautiful celebration which begins with Lent. This is a time of fasting and praying. One of the most important times of the year where we observe Jesus and his disciples. Easter in my house is very important; we go to church, my family gathers together and when I was younger we would always participate in an Easter egg hunt and usually ended in taking a picture with the Easter bunny.
This year for Lent I decided to give up chocolate. I know it doesn't seem like that much of a sacrifice, but since becoming more of a sweet tooth I can say it has been really hard. Still, I do my part and I am lucky enough to participate in such an important moment. In these last years being away from home it has definitely been difficult to keep up with Lent and going to church is just as hard. Luckily, this weekend I have the opportunity to go back home and celebrate this special time with my family.
On Easter Sunday I prepare for church we meet with family there to celebrate Jesus' resurrection. Everyone nicely dressed in spring colors to match with the Easter eggs they have prepared for the Easter hunt for the children to participate in. After church sometimes going out to eat lunch or preparing something good at home. Now that my sister and I aren't little kids anymore we don't participate in the egg hunt, instead help the younger kids find the eggs.
Though the Easter egg hunt is not part of the religious side of Easter it is still celebrated and trying to find out why the hunt is part of such a day all I found was that the Easter bunny is associated with renewal and birth as like when Jesus rises from the dead.
Not to stray away from the importance of Easter, I am excited to celebrate this coming Sunday alongside family and welcome Jesus.
