10 Signs You're A Cat Person

There are two types of people. People who love dogs, and people who love cats. I happen to be in the cat lover group. For those who also fall into this group here are five signs you’re a cat lady.

1. You have multiple pictures of your cat and post them frequently on social media/ follow multiple cat picture accounts

I have SO many pictures of my cats on my phone. I can’t help but post them on Facebook or Instagram to show how cute they are and how much I love them. You can never go wrong with a cat picture! Catsofinstagram is my favorite Instagram account.

2. You’d rather be at home with your cats than with actual people

Sometimes people suck and you don’t really want to deal with them. Cats can’t talk plus they’re great to cuddle. Being in college is hard because I wish I could cuddle with my cat every night when things are stressful.

3. People always tag you in cat stuff on Facebook

Whenever I get a notification from my sister I always know it’s a picture that has to do with cats or being a cat lady. My friends will also mention me in comments of pictures saying “this is so you” ah the life of cat lady.

4. Your friends have actually referred to you as a crazy cat lady/man

Comments include “you’re such a crazy cat lady” or “I can see you ten years from now living with ten cats.” All jokes aside, they’re probably right

5. You can’t help but get excited when you see cats other than yours in person.

Some of my friends have cats and if I go to their house the first thing I do is interact with their cat. There’s also those rare moments where you’ll see a stray cat just walking around. One time I saw ten cats all in the same area just hanging out and I almost cried tears of joy.

6. When you find cat hair on your clothes and then you start to get sad because your cat isn’t with you

7. You actually dressed up as a cat at least once for Halloween.

8. Your family frequently sends you pictures of your cat doing absolutely nothing

Nothing's changed!

9. Videos of cats almost gives you tears of joy.

10. Your love for cats is just something no one will ever fully understand.

I’ve grown up with cats my entire life. I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t own a cat. The relationship with a cat is very sentimental. They’re there for you through everything and they know exactly when you’re upset. Losing a cat is like losing a member of your family.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
