Let’s admit it: We all still have an inner child. Sometimes, we aren’t ready to “adult” yet. Sometimes, we just want to sit back and watch some cartoons. However, the kid shows that are on television these days aren’t like they used to be.
Now we've got "Uncle Grandpa," "Adventure Time" and "Gumball." Shows with talking cars that leap from trees, "Peppa Pig" and others that lack educational story lines.
What happened to "Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat" and "Dragon Tales"? I haven’t heard or seen "Arthur" in a while, but apparently it’s still running.
Why did they quit making "Rugrats," and why did they need Dora to grow up? It is a children's show, right?
Most of the best shows ended between 2004 and 2007. That’s including "Cat Dog" and "George Shrinks." "Recess" ended in 2001 — what a tragedy!
"Sesame Street" is the longest running children's show, on the air since 1969. You can’t go wrong with them. I’m just glad they still have Elmo!
Don’t you feel old now? The shows we used to watch are no more. Now all of our shows are going to be seen only as re-runs, just like the shows our parents grew up with like "Gilligan’s Island" and "Mr. Ed."
But maybe there is hope down the road. We have not yet seen them, but productions are releasing a new cast of "Powerpuff Girls" and the "Magic School Bus" in 2016 as well as "Bob the Builder."
In the past, shows like "The Electric Company" and "Teen Titans" have been remade, showing a tremendous difference in order to keep up with the modern look. Some may say the originals are definitely better, and who can argue with that? The first shows are always going to be better.
I just know that our future children are going to be missing out, and I regret not recording the shows that I used to watch.
