If you were questioning whether or not you wanted to go see Marvel's newest movie, "Captain America: Civil War," the answer is yes, you definitely do.
We all love super hero movies and because of that the superhero movie franchises have grown and grown. First, we got to see "Superman" and "Batman" movies from DC comics and eventually we got "Iron Man," "Captain America" and more from Marvel. With all the success these movies had, Marvel went and made the Avenger movies because we all know that there's nothing better than two superheroes together in one movie.
"The Avengers" blasted audiences out of the water by having not one, or two, but six superheroes fighting crime together. Needless to say, Marvel is killing it with their movies and "Captain America: Civil War" is no exception. It's not just about Captain America, though the focus is on him quite a bit, it features some of the other Avengers as well as introducing new superheroes to the silver screen for the first time (Spider-Man & Black Panther) and bringing superheroes we've already seen in their own movies into the Avenger mix (Ant-Man). And spoiler: these heroes don't just have cameos either, but they have parts in a big fight scene.
"Captain America: Civil War" gives you a lot more details on the history of the Winter Solider, Captain America/Steve Rogers’s old friend Bucky Barnes then previously seen in "Captain America: Winter Solider." The other amazing thing Marvel has done with this movie is that there isn't a villain and yet there is. There are no big aliens invading the city or artificial intelligence trying to rule the world that they are fighting. Instead, the heroes are fighting amongst each other over what they think is right. That is something that has not really been seen from Marvel or really many superhero movies before until this year with DC's "Superman VS. Batman" and then again with Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War." Typically superheroes are known for having legendary villains that they always face (ex: Captain America against the Red Skull and Hydra), yet this movie pits them against each other instead of a specific villain.
A short summary would be that the United States Secretary of State and the United Nations feel that letting the Avengers run around unsupervised is dangerous and they would rather the Avengers answer to them and only go somewhere when they deem needed by the United Nations. While Iron Man is all for it, falling victim to all the sob stories of those whose lives have been taken thanks to Avenger casualties, Captain America opposes the "Sokovia Accords” claiming letting someone deem when they are needed or not and where they should go should lie in the power of the Avengers. Captain America feels that since the Avengers purpose is to help; no one will know when they should help except them. There will be causalities no matter the fight is how Cap see’s it and while he wants to protect as many people as possible, he knows you can’t save everyone as well as it is not logical for the US government to be the ones to tell them when they are needed. Seeing as there is not really a right or wrong answer but it is based on what you believe, a fight breaks loose. But to see more elements of that fight you'll have to see the movie because the fight ends up being over quite a bit more than signatures on the Sokovia Accord.
If you like superhero movies or Marvel movies even a little bit, this movie is well worth the now expensive trip to the movies. This is one of the best Marvel has yet to come out with and as per usual, sets it up for even more great future movies.
Why else it’s a must see:
-- This movie has some pretty hilarious scenes in it.
-- It is the first time the new Peter Parker/Spider-Man graces the silver screen.
-- It is the first time the Black Panther is introduced.
-- Ant-Man gets to meet and fight with the Avengers.
Pro-Tip: Always stay until the end of Marvel movies, like past the credits even because there is always a sneak peek or important look into a future Marvel movie coming out. You’re welcome.
