Since I’m spending the entire summer with preschool kids, this seemed like a worthy topic. I am both very excited and extremely terrified because 18 preschoolers is definitely a lot to handle. Anyways, here’s some reasons that kids are far superior to adults.
They aren't capable of abstract thinking. What you see is what you get. Theorist Jean Piaget cited that kids in early childhood are extremely literal. So, if you feel like your life has gotten a little too complicated, go have a chat with a four year old. They may just tell you what you need to hear.
Their imagination is unlike any other living being. As adults, we have left the world of make-believe far behind as we encounter the every day obstacles of the world. Young children haven't yet learned what is physically impossible or what isn't socially acceptable. Their imagination has no bounds and will bring you back to simpler times.
Their moral development has only progressed to the simple concepts of right and wrong. In the adult world, it is easy to blur the lines between these two concepts. Most importantly, in a world where everyone's response seems to be "it's complicated," a child will probably be able to tell you that it really isn't.
They recognize emotions for what they are and will call you out on it. Kids will often pick up on a false smile faster than most adults who are too distracted with their own lives to stop and realize that something is wrong.
They thrive off of learning experiences that you model for them. In other words, if you're doing something as simple as tying your shoe while surrounded by a preschool class, chances are at least one kid will sit down and try to emulate your behavior on his own shoe. Sometimes it's nice to feel like a rockstar.
They're resilient. No matter what gets thrown their way, they seem to maintain an undying love of life and faith in those around them.
If you hate kids, we can’t be friends.
